Stoke City are set to take on the reigning English Premier League champions on Tuesday, and they will have to do so without Geoff Cameron.
After suffering a thigh injury Sunday against Watford, the U.S. Men’s National Team defender will miss out on Tuesday’s Capital One Cup meeting with Chelsea, according to manager Mark Hughes.
“We’ll probably be lacking Geoff Cameron,” Hughes said Monday at a press conference. “Obviously he came off in the game and he’s gone for a scan. It looks like it’s a grade one, so we’re hopeful that he may have a chance for the weekend. Obviously, not for tomorrow.
“It’s in his thigh. We’ll have to be a little bit careful with those because they can be a troublesome injury if you aggravate it,” Hughes added. “The fact that he came off so soon was the right thing because it was clear that he was hampered by the injury, which was a good thing, and why it’s only a grade one.”
Hughes went on to say that Cameron’s injury severely affected the team in Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Watford. After going two games without conceding, Hughes said that the loss of Cameron heavily affected the balance of his team as the game wore on.
Following Sunday’s appearance, Cameron has made 10 appearances this season for Stoke, which currently sits 14th in the Premier League. Captain Ryan Shawcross is expected to return to action Tuesday and feature in Cameron’s place.

“so we’re hopeful that he may have a chance for the weekend”
but that’s impossible–everybody knows that a player can’t recover from an injury, no matter how slight, within a week! are you calling klinsmann a liar?
Fabian was never actually injured.
Thanks, Dr. Bryan!
Stoke’s doctors scanned the muscle and found a “grade one.” The US doctor’s found nothing on Fabian. The ‘Gladbaach doctors likely found nothing either. These are two different situations. Save your Klinsmann hate for when there is something to actually hate on.

why is it “likely”? what inside information do you have? please share!
and, to be fair, i’m not really hating on klinsmann (this time). unless you consider it a moral imperative, klinsmann isn’t necessarily obligated to only speak the truth to the media, and, in any case, the damage was already done with his first public comments about fabian.
who i’m “hating on” are the people (including a writer on this site) who bought into his nonsense.
