SBI No. 1 Creighton has finally fallen.

Wednesday evening at Morrison Stadium, the Bluejays suffered their first defeat of the season at the hands of visiting Xavier. An 89th-minute strike from sophomore forward Matt Vasquenza gave the Musketeers the 2-1 road win.

Xavier took the surprising 1-0 lead in the first half after a Josh Grant header, but Creighton star Fabian Herbers assisted Lucas Stauffer 21 minutes later, and it looked like the home side was en route to another comeback victory in 2015. Vasquenza had other ideas, however, and he tallied his second consecutive game-winning goal, giving Xavier its 10th win of the season.

Elsewhere, Monday was a good day for one U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team forward, as Jordan Morris continued to add to his goal-scoring total while celebrating his 21st birthday. No. 2 Stanford cruised to a 3-1 win against San Diego State to claim its 12th win of the season and Morris assisted the team’s first goal, scored by Tomas Hilliard-Arce, before scoring his seventh goal of the campaign six minutes later.

Foster Langsdorf, who has also shined for the Cardinal in 2015, tallied his sixth for the team, while Jeroen Meefout scored the lone away goal for the Aztecs.

Meanwhile, No. 10 South Florida faced another top team in No. 13 Old Dominion Wednesday, but the Bulls failed to find a win once again. After a 2-2 tie with SMU over the weekend, the Bulls also tied with the Monarchs, 1-1. Jesse Miralrio tallied first, giving the Monarchs the road advantage, but junior forward Melvin Becket was able to force the tie for the home side at Corbett Stadium.
