Rubio Rubin is set for a spell on the sidelines due to a foot injury.
Dutch outlet NOS reported that Rubin has suffered a stress fracture in his foot that require surgery. The procedure is expected to keep Rubin out until the Eredivisie’s winter break concludes for FC Utrecht on Jan. 17.
The U.S. Under-20 Men’s National Team forward has yet to score in six Eredivisie games for Utrecht. Last season, Rubin netted three goals in 28 appearances for the Dutch club.
Rubin was a part of the U.S U-20 team over the summer, helping the team reach the quarterfinals of the Under-20 World Cup. The FC Utrecht forward was eligible for the U.S. Under-23 Men’s National Team’s Olympic qualifying run, but was not released by his club.
What do you think of Rubin’s injury? See him playing a role with the U-23s against Colombia? Think he’ll be a part of the senior team soon?

Too many injuries … too much of the USMNT’s next generation on IR 🙁
That sucks, hopefully he won’t try and rush back to soon.
oh great, another prospect gone down the drain
Yeah he’s done. No one ever recovers from a stress fracture in their foot.
“See him playing a role with the U-23s against Colombia?”
That is five months away. If he heals up by then and is in form, yes.
If not then, no
“Think he’ll be a part of the senior team soon?”
Not if “soon” is before he heals and gets back in form. Players with a broken foot may well be useless.
