English Premier League play resumes this weekend with two players that were not part of the recent U.S. men’s national team squad, squaring off for three points.
Antonee Robinson and Brenden Aaronson meet as Fulham hosts Leeds United at Craven Cottage on Saturday. Robinson, the USMNT’s No. 1 left back option, only recently returned to action for the Cottagers and has two appearances this season. The 28-year-old remains a key weapon in Marco Silva’s squad and should be back in the starting lineup this weekend.
Aaronson, 24, has made four appearances in Daniel Farke’s squad this summer, logging 135 minutes of action. His lone start came in an EFL Cup loss to Sheffield Wednesday, while he’s also made three substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Both players will be eager to play a large role on Saturday, especially after being well rested from international duty.
In England, Tyler Adams and Bournemouth take on Brighton & Hove Albion. Josh Sargent and Haji Wright go head-to-head in EFL Championship action. Alyssa Thompson will fight to debut for WSL giants Chelsea.
In Spain, Johnny Cardoso and Atletico Madrid face off with Villarreal.
In Germany, Malik Tillman and Bayer Leverkusen open the weekend’s slate against Eintracht Frankfurt. Gio Reyna seeks to make his Borussia Moenchengladbach competitive debut against Stuttgart.
In Italy, Weston McKennie and Juventus face Inter Milan in the headlining clash of the weekend. Yunus Musah aims to make his Atalanta debut.
In France, Tim Weah and Marseille host Lorient while Tanner Tessmann and Lyon visit Rennes.
Elsewhere, Sergino Dest and PSV continue Eredivisie play against NEC Nijmegen. Cade Cowell and Alex Zendejas square off in Liga MX play. Gio starting for Gladbach.
I wonder if we get to see the Gio and Joe show this week or if it’s too early.
Early. Gio needs work…..but I’m seriously hoping too🙏🏾
Betinho,
Gio will get a run this weekend vs Weder Bremen, but most likely as a sub for Stoger. The circumstances of the game will dictate how many minutes he gets, but probably 15 -30 minutes.

Gio started in their friendly last weekend against Schalke going 71 minutes. I don’t know if he’s starting a real match fit, as it was a very relaxed friendly but he’ll likely play. Scally went off after 19 minutes so not sure if he’s injured or it was precautionary. It looked like he was holding his hamstring.
Gio had the assist on the 1st goal
