Anthony Hudson is back on the sidelines at the national team level.
Hudson has been named head coach of the Thailand national team, the federation announced Wednesday. The former U.S. men’s national team interim head coach had served as the director of technical development of Thailand’s soccer association since 2024.
“At this crucial time, we need someone who understands Thai football thoroughly,” association president Nualphan Lamsam said in a statement. “Anthony Hudson has worked with the association at every level and has extensive international experience.”
Since his role as USMNT interim head coach, Hudson had served as manager of Qatari clubs Al-Markhiya and Al Arabi SC, and Thailand side BG Pathum United FC.
The 44-year-old previously worked in MLS with the Colorado Rapids, serving as head coach for two years. Hudson took over as USMNT interim coach following the expiration of Gregg Berhalter’s contract at the end of 2022.
He registered a record of 2-1-2 before eventually moving to Qatar in May 2023.
Hudson’s first match in charge of Thailand will be a 2027 Asian Cup qualifier against Sri Lanka in November. Thailand sits second in the four-team Group D with only the group winner advancing to the tournament in Saudi Arabia.
