Ronaldinho has been flirting with a move to the MLS for years now, and speculation regarding his transfer to the U.S. has swirled up once again.

The 35-year-old Brazilian legend is considering options to play in MLS and Dubai, per an ESPN Deportes report. Ronaldinho apparently meet with people in Miami to discuss potential offers.

Fluminense and Ronaldinho parted ways in September, with the former Barcelona star recording no goals or assists in nine games with the Rio de Janeiro club.

Most recently, he was linked with a move to the LA Galaxy over the summer after he grew “bored” with the lifestyle at Liga MX side Queretaro.

The real question at this point is whether any MLS team is ready to invest a seven-figure salary on a player who hasn’t shown much in the past two years.

Here are some more news items and notes from around MLS:

NYCFC SAYS PIRLO WILL STAY WITH CLUB DURING OFFSEASON

Speculation that some of the league’s most high-profile players are going to be loaned out during the offseason continue to make the rounds, but New York City FC says that one of their own is staying put.

According to MLSsoccer.com, NYCFC confirmed that Italian international Andrea Pirlo will not be loaned to any club during the offseason. Teammate Frank Lampard also told Sky Sports he hoped to enjoy his offseason instead of playing on loan.

The Italian midfielder, 36, made just 13 appearances and assisted five times in the team’s inaugural season, a season that saw NYCFC fall short of its goal to reach the MLS Cup Playoffs.

REPORT LINKS DAVIS TO SPORTING KC TRADE

After 10 years of wearing orange, Brad Davis may be suiting up in another color come 2016.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the U.S. international and Houston Dynamo midfielder will reportedly be traded to Sporting Kansas City this winter.

Dynamo president Chris Canetti denied that a deal was currently in place, but he did acknowledge hearing of the trade. Canetti wants head coach Owen Coyle to help the Dynamo retrieve “an identity that was lost,” especially after the team failed to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs for a second consecutive year.

D.C. UNITED TO UNVEIL NEW BADGE IN DECEMBER

D.C. United is apparently going to have a new look to start the 2016 season.

According to an email sent to premium season ticket holders, D.C. United is expected is unveil a new badge to club supporters at a gathering on Dec. 10.

Founded in 1995, D.C. United has only had one badge update in its history, with only slight modifications made to the bald eagle, ball and shape of the crest occurring in 1998. D.C. United is currently preparing for the second leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday.

  1. Thankfully.. nobody in MLS will pay him what he’ll get in dubai.
I’m glad to see the DC logo go. I also think it looks a little too much like 1944

  2. Some desperate team will probably sign him while showing highlights of his playing days from 10 plus years ago to try and deceive fans into thinking that is who they are getting, instead of the now lazy, don’t make me run, show up when he wants player he is now.

  3. I’d be disgusted if this story actually had legs. Instead, it seems like fed publicity from Ronaldinho’s camp.

If Don Garber and MLS sign this guy it would be an absolute joke.

  4. Ronaldinho is going to need to show a lot more effort. otherwise, he’ll be a flop.

as for DC United, i like the current badge but won’t say a refresh would be bad. i hope they maintain the eagle and add in the DC flag. guess i’ll find out soon enough…

  5. Maybe if Ronaldinho really tried he could still cut in MLS but I don’t see that happening. Doubt any MLS team wants to spend big bucks on this has-been.

  6. My honest impression of the DC logo has always been it bears way too much likeness to a very well known in history symbol of absolute hate. Good riddance, hopefully they move away from that completely.

  7. DC United has had only 1 badge? The Gothic Eagle and the Bitchin’ Camaro logo are as different as night and day.

I don’t know what the new badge looks like, but I can tell you that it sucks.
