FC Dallas Celebrates MLS 11082015

The MLS playoff conference semifinals ended in mostly dramatic fashion on Sunday, as the quadruple-header delivered some truly exciting theatre.

Episode 240 of The SBI Show takes a look back at all the crazy matches on Sunday, including FC Dallas’ penalty shootout victory over the Seattle Sounders and the Columbus Crew’s dramatic extra-time victory against the Montreal Impact.

Co-host Garrett Cleverly and I also discuss the latest U.S. Men’s National Team roster, including the callups for Darlington Nagbe and Matt Miazga, as well as Clint Dempsey’s absence from the squad.

We also touch on the NASL playoffs, and talk some Americans Abroad, as well as offering random non-spoiler musings on The Walking Dead.

  1. Solid episode, fellas.

I realize it’s been a little while ago Ives, but are you going to complete the SBI (Old School) Q & A you put out? Or did you already do it and I overlooked it somehow? Thanks…

  2. The Sounders conservative defensive tactics again led to an early playoff exit. With Dempsey, Martins, Valdez, and Ivanshitz on the field and with a make shift defense missing Alonso and Evans, the team sill tired to play for a 0 to 0 tie instead of going for the dagger in the heart first goal. Thanks to a miracle goal, they were exhausted by OT and penalties, and the substitutions seemed desperate and not well planned. Once again, Sigi was outcoached in the playoffs.

    • I wouldn’t call Zimmerman’s goal a ‘miracle goal’. Seattle fell asleep and allowed Dallas to score an uncontested header. Watching the game, it was just a matter of time that Dallas would score, racking up 22 shots in the game.

Unfortunately for Seattle, just parking the bus in the box wasn’t enough – they needed to actually defend.
