In what appears to be a relatively weak goalkeeping crop, the 2016 MLS SuperDraft could feature at least one shot-stopping stud.

Clemson University goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell, who helped guide his Tigers to a national championship appearance in 2015, has signed a Generation adidas contract with Major League Soccer, according to Goal USA. TheĀ red-shirt junior becomes the first member of the 2016 Generation adidas class, which allows him the opportunity to enter the upcoming draft.

The 2016 MLS SuperDraft will commence on January 14 in Baltimore, Maryland.

This past season, Tarbell dominated the Atlantic Coast Conference competition, allowing only 15 goals throughout the 2015 campaign.

Tarbell was named second-team All-AmericanĀ in 2015, and was expected to declare for the draft prior to MLS signing him to a Generation adidas contract.

Tarbell was ranked No. 16 overall in the first SBI MLS Draft Big Board, as the top-rated goalkeeper in the draft.
