Vincent Kompany of Manchester City hurdles the tackle from Bacary Sagna of Arsenal as Aaron Ramsey looks on

While Leicester City occupy the top spot in the English Premier League, title contenders Arsenal and Manchester City will do battle on Monday afternoon in an attempt to close the deficit on the Foxes.

Currently third in the EPL table, Man City is coming off of a 2-1 win over Swansea nine days ago, while Arsenal is unbeaten in five straight matches in all competitions. While both clubs have their fair share of injuries at the moment, including Gunners forward Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero for the Citizens, they remain firmly in the title chase. Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud leads the charge for both sides with nine goals, good enough for fifth place in the league’s Golden Boot race.

Man City’s biggest task will undoubtedly be to keep the Frenchman Giroud in check. Pelligrini’s back line has been challenged at times in 2015, in large part due to the void left by the injured captain Vincent Kompany and Pablo Zabaleta, but the Citizens have held up their end of the bargain defensively. Nicolás Otamendi and Eliaquim Mangala have proven to be critical while the side eagerly awaits the return of its skipper.

While it was a rocky start for Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech after his offseason move from Stamford Bridge to the Emirates, the Czech net-minder has since settled down, leading a Gunners defense that has only conceded a league-leading 13 goals. The 33-year old keeper will be key for Arsene Wenger’s side, which will face the likes of Yaya Toure, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, and a potent City attack.

  1. I assume you’re talking about Campbell? He’s hardly played for Arsenal this year I think, but it comes and goes with the BPL. Some good US players starting in the Bundesliga however…

    • He started today and I assume you’re talking about the American citizen German players. The point is Costa Rica can develop players for that leve while we have to recruit them.

      • We also have developed players that start for Nantes, Stoke, Everton, Aston Villa. Currently, Arsenal is better than all of them, but these things ebb and flow
