A cup clash in England is expected to be heated, as Southampton-Liverpool headlines Wednesday’s round of action.

Liverpool has turned the corner ever since Jurgen Klopp’s arrival, winning six of its previous seven matches. Add to that fact that Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson are now being integrated back into the first team after recovering from injuries, and the Reds are a force to be reckoned with.

Southampton, though, tied the Reds in the pair’s first meeting this campaign — a 1-1 result at Anfield. Steven Caulker will have a shot at impressing Saints manager Ronald Koeman again in the English Football League Cup on Wednesday, as the Dutch coach has penciled him in to start.

Elsewhere in Europe, Ligue 1 action continues with Caen looking to maintain pace with Paris Saint-Germain atop the French table against AS Monaco.

Barcelona and Real Madrid also kick off in Copa del Rey action, but stars like Cristiano Ronaldo are likely to be benched in favor of playing younger players.
