The Weekend’s Best: Ibrahimovic, PSG, Santos-Pachuca and more

A French club and Swedish international stole the spotlight this week, while a free kick in the FA Cup wowed the world. Here are SBI’s picks for The Weekend’s Best (as voted by SBI’s editorial staff):

PLAYER OF THE WEEK

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC (Paris Saint-Germain). The Swedish star proved yet again he is still one of the best players in the world, scoring once to help PSG secure advancement into the UEFA Champions League final eight before netting four on Sunday to help his side win the Ligue 1 title.

Honorable Mention – Romelu Lukaku, Miroslav Klose, Thomas Muller, Dorlan Pabon

TEAM OF THE WEEK

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN. Advancing to the UCL quarterfinals with a win vs. Chelsea. Winning the Ligue 1 title by scoring nine goals on the road. PSG easily had the best week around the world.

Honorable Mention – Borussia Dortmund, Everton

MATCH OF THE WEEK

SANTOS LAGUNA 3, PACHUCA 2. Two of the best in the Liga MX Clausura campaign battled it out on Friday, and Santos was able to hold off a thrilling Pachuca comeback. After conceding three goals in the first half, including a golazo by Luis Mendoza, Pachuca netted two late to make things interesting on the road. Santos held on, though, for the important three points.

Honorable Mention – FC Ingolstadt 04 3 – 3 VfB Stuttgart, AFC Bournemouth 3 – 2 Swansea City

GOAL OF THE WEEK

DIMITRI PAYET (West Ham United). The 28-year-old West Ham star curled in an incredible free kick, beating Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea from distance in the FA Cup.

Honorable Mention – Luis Mendoza, Paulo Dybala, Adlene Guedioura
