It appears the injury bug is making its way around MLS camps this week, and Orlando City might have received the most venomous bite.
Orlando City is looking to build on its big 4-1 win over the Portland Timbers with a Friday visit against the Philadelphia Union, but will have to make due without injured forward Cyle Larin (hamstring) and defender Tommy Redding (head). (REPORT)
Matt Besler will not be not the only Sporting Kansas City player sidelined this weekend due to a concussion. Brad Davis has also been ruled out of Sporting KC’s road game vs. the New York Red Bulls on Saturday with the same type of knock. (REPORT)
There is better news for FC Dallas, as playmaker Mauro Diaz has returned to training and could be made available for Saturday’s home tilt against the San Jose Earthquakes. (REPORT)
The Earthquakes’ focus might be on that upcoming league match, but the club announced on Thursday that it will serve as host to La Liga side Real Sociedad in a friendly at Avaya Stadium on May 18. (REPORT)
Real Sociedad will head south shortly after that for a showdown with the Houston Dynamo, which will welcome the Spanish side to BBVA Compass Stadium on May 24. (REPORT)
Another friendly that is apparently taking place in May is the Columbus Crew vs. Veracruz of Liga MX. That encounter will supposedly be played on May 11 at Mapfre Stadium. (REPORT)
How do you see Orlando City faring without Larin and Redding? Who should replace Davis in Sporting KC’s lineup? Expecting Diaz to see the field in some capacity for FC Dallas?

Tell me, somebody or anybody — do clubs in any other league play in-season friendlies? And I don’t mean friendlies to get back into shape after mid-season breaks. Just wondering.
