The past week proved to be a big one for the Vancouver Whitecaps thanks to the play of Kekuta Manneh.
After notching an assist in Wednesday’s win over the Chicago Fire, Manneh played a part in all four of the Whitecaps’ goals, leading his team to its first win at BMO Field with Saturday’s 4-3 triumph over Toronto FC. While Manneh’s performances were vital in helping the Whitecaps escape with a valuable six-point week, they also earned the forward honors as SBI MLS Player of the Week.
Manneh’s big week got an early start with an assist on Blas Perez’s spectacular game-winner on Wednesday night. However, Manneh’s best work came Saturday, starting with a 12th minute finish that gave his side the early lead. Christian Bolanos doubled the lead by smashing home a Manneh rebound before the Whitecaps speedster provided his second goal of the evening to restore the Whitecaps lead. Another assist came just two minutes later on a Pedro Morales finish that served as valuable insurance while capping off a big week for the Whitecaps.
Manneh’s performances saw him contribute to five of the Whitecaps’ six goals, lifting the forward past the likes of Roger Espinoza, Mauro Diaz, Anibal Godoy and Alvaro Saborio for this week’s honors.
What did you think of Manneh’s performance? Which player stood out to you throughout this past week’s games?

Kekuta Manneh means no worries.
Can someone explain his citizenship status for me? How does it work with him living and playing in Canada.
I don’t know the current status of his pursuit of citizenship only that it is in the process according to Manneh back in January. I can tell you that he has maintained a residence and has lived in the US and commuted to Canada for work as to not complicate and/or jeopardize his pursuit of citizenship.
Thanks!
