The Philadelphia Union continue to chug along at the top of the Eastern Conference, and Keegan Rosenberry’s presence on the backline has a lot to do with the team’s overall performance.
Starting in his 11th straight match this season for the Union, Rosenberry helped the home side pick up a narrow 1-0 victory over D.C. United on Friday night. The defender’s determination helped give the Union their third clean sheet of the season and earned Rosenberry SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors.
Rosenberry has played every minute thus far in 2016 at right back for the Union, giving Jim Curtin’s side not only a solid defensive option but also a quality attacking one as well. The 22-year-old is already developing into one of the brightest young defenders in MLS, consistently shutting down the likes of Giovani Dos Santos and Didier Drogba. This past weekend, it was a complete shutdown of D.C. United, with Rosenberry registering a tackle and four interception while bossing the right side of the field.
Rosenberry earns the SBI MLS Rookie of the Week award for the second straight week, finishing ahead of Alex Muyl, Jordan Morris and Jonathan Campbell.
What did you think of Rosenberry’s performance? Which rookie stood out to you this past weekend?

Grest to see him doing well. The quality at RB in the pool drops off significantly after Yedlin, so it’s not inconceivable that Rosenberry is in the Nat picture sooner than later
