ORLANDO – After an underwhelming performance in their first match against Ecuador, Dunga’s Brazil earned their confidence back in a demolishment of Haiti.
Philippe Coutinho’s played out of his mind on the night, and both Dani Alves and Renato Augusto were very active in Brazil’s 7-1 rout at Camping World Stadium on Wednesday night.
The tone was set early, as Brazil put Haiti on the back foot by scoring first in the 13th minute. Coutinho recieved the ball, turned and ran at his defender, beat him with pace and struck a fantastically placed shot form outside the box to the near post.
Coutinho knocked in his second of the evening in the 29th minute, when Dani Alves whipped in a cross for Jonas on the near post, who squared it for Coutinho to tap in with ease.
Dunga’s men continued to press, going up 3-0 in the 35th minute courtesy of another Dani Alves cross. Renato Augusto redirected the cross from wide right with a powerful header past Haitian goalkeeper Johnny Placide.
Gabriel added a fourth in the 59th minute, collecting a ball at the top of the box from Elias and finishing his second international goal.
Lucas Lima headed home a cross from none other than Dani Alves after the hour mark, scoring Brazil’s sixth in the 67th minute.
James Marcelin earned a consolation goal for the Haitians just minutes later, firing home in the 70th minute. Marcelin was the benefactor as his teammates drove down the left side of the field and the ball ended up in front of an open net for him to fire home a goal that acted as a moral victory.
Augusto then scored his second of the match as Brazil resumed domination, firing a low shot into the corner in the 86th minute.
Coutinho then finally capped off the scoring in spectacular fashion in the second minute of stoppage time. The attacking midfielder made space for himself and curled a shot to the far post from 25 yards out.
The South American giants could’ve scored several more on the night, as the Haitian defense were clearly run all over as they were outclassed by the Brazilians.
MAN OF THE MATCH
Philippe Coutinho was all over the pitch at Camping World Stadium. The Liverpool man finished, passed, and dribbled the ball with ease against Haiti. This performance will surely provide a confidence boost for himself and the team that could influence their next few results.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH
In the second minute of stoppage time, Philippe Coutinho curled home a magnificent strike to cap off what was a fantastic attacking display from the midfielder.
MATCH TO FORGET
Haitian defenders could do little to stop the continuous attacking threat that was posed by Brazil on the night, although goalkeeper Johnny Placide did well for himself on the evening.
Was haiti’s dmid being played out of position???…
Plz don’t desrespect Patrice Neveu, you r a fool if u question the gaffer. He forgots more about football than u ever did and Alexandre is 1nda best midfielders in concacaf.. Us Haitians r proud and well be back for Copa Oro.. Com to Haiti and we teach you Americans how to play, yess? Srry my Inglish not very good
Please – your nonstop defense of a poor coach is ridiculous. He doesn’t deserve it. I doubt that was the first time Haiti’s d-mid played that position in his life – Haiti’s coach knows better than that.
OMG L…O…L
None of the Haiti defenders were tracking players at all. They looked like they were playing more of an oblivious zone defense without looking to see who was coming into their zone.
