After a rough three-game stretch of results, the Vancouver Whitecaps got a much needed win against one of the Eastern Conference’s best teams.

Even after going down early to the Philadelphia Union on Saturday night, the Whitecaps didn’t panic, and rattled off three straight goals to give the road team a 3-1 lead. The Whitecaps held off late pressure from the Union, ending their foe’s 10-match unbeaten streak at home whilealso earning SBI MLS Team of the Week honors.

Goals from Andrew Jacobson and Kekuta Manneh gave the Whitecaps an advantage going into halftime, before Christian Bolanos netted the team’s third down the stretch, which proved to be the winner for the Western Conference side. The victory gives Carl Robinson’s side their third road win of the season and pulls the team up to 7-7-3 as MLS reaches its halfway mark.

The win brings the Whitecaps up to fourth in the West, while claiming SBI MLS Team of the Week honors over FC Dallas, D.C. United and New York City FC.
