U.S. Men’s National Team goalkeeper Brad Guzan and his Aston Villa side had a forgettable 2015/16 season, after being relegated to the English Championship, but the 31-year-old has quickly found his way back to England’s top flight.
Newly-promoted Premier League club Middlesbrough announced the signing of Guzan on Friday, following his eight-year stint with Villa.
Guzan made 34 appearances for the Villans last season, while also manning the net for the U.S. during their run to the Copa America Centenario semifinals.
The veteran will likely compete with former Manchester United goalkeeper Victor Valdes for Middlesbrough’s no. 1 position. Valdes became the club’s first signing of the summer following promotion to the Premier League.
