The top spot in the SBI College Soccer Top 25 has been a tough place to hold on to, and now Syracuse is the next in line to try and keep hold of the throne.
The Orange have jumped into the No. 1 spot in the latest SBI Top 25 after previous No. 1 Notre Dame stumbled against Louisville. Syracuse posted a pair of victories to ensure its place on top.
Holding onto that position won’t be easy, not with a trip to South Bend up next to take on the now N0. 4 Fighting Irish.
Louisville made the biggest jump of the week on the strength of that win over Notre Dame, climbing six places to No. 18. Ken Lolla’s side has posted four straight shutout victories to make the steady climb.
No team in the nation has a longer current active shutout streak than West Virginia, and the Mountaineers have jumped on that wave all the way to a No. 22 spot in the latest rankings. Marlon LeBlanc’s men have not allowed a goal since a season-opening loss to Seattle—a span of six matches— and a 3-0 win against American University helped nudge West Virginia into the rankings for the first time this season.
