MLS Ticker: Vagenas, Goncalves, Zubar and more

Following the departure of Bruce Arena, the LA Galaxy have taken a step towards replacing him while several MLS teams announced roster moves.

The LA Galaxy have named Peter Vagenas, the team’s vice president of soccer operations, as the club’s general manager. Vagenas, a two-time MLS Cup winner, will retain his former role and is now charged with replacing head coach Bruce Arena following his hiring by the U.S. Men’s National Team. (REPORT)

The New England Revolution have opted not to pick up options on Jordan McCrary and Steve Neumann, while Jose Goncalves, Darius Barnes, Daigo Kobayashi and Gershon Koffie are out of contract starting Dec. 31. The club has until Dec. 14 to re-sign any out of contract players. (REPORT)

Bradley Wright-Phillips’ option has been picked up by the New York Red Bulls, while the club has opted not to pick up options on Karl Ouimette and Ronald Zubar. Red Bulls general manager Ali Curtis says that the club is still hoping to bring back Zubar for next season. (REPORT)

NYCFC also made a series of roster announcements, including new deals for defender Ethan White and midfielder Mikey Lopez as well as a transfer for on-loan Shannon Gomez.  Connor Brandt, Jason Hernandez, Diego Martinez and Tony Taylor will not have their contract options exercised while Federico Bravo and Steven Mendoza will return to their respective clubs following the conclusion of his loan.
