The U.S. Women’s National Team and three other high-profile women’s national sides will take over the East Coast for a week as they play the second annual SheBelieves Cup.
Three Major League Soccer stadiums, Talen Energy Stadium, Red Bull Arena and RFK Stadium will play host to the round-robin tournament that also features France, Germany and England. England and France will play the competition’s first match on March 1 at Talen Energy Stadium before the USWNT takes on Germany.
“It’s fantastic to play these three teams in the first three games of the year,” USWNT head coach Jill Ellis said. “As I’ve said many times, one of our main goals is to play the best teams in the world as often as possible and we have tremendous respect for France, Germany and England, which all feature world class players at multiple positions.
“To hold this tournament at home is great for our fans and TV partners, but especially for our players and our coaching staff as these are the kinds of games where we get tested and can really learn a lot about ourselves.”
The second set of matches will take place on March 4 at Red Bull Arena, with France playing Germany and the USWNT facing off against England. The final round of contests will be at RFK Stadium, with the USWNT squaring off against France and England facing Germany.
Jill Ellis’ side won the first edition of the SheBelieves Cup with a pair of 1-0 wins over England and France and a 2-1 victory over Germany.
