Soccer Monday: Your Running Commentary

Just a few matches are on the schedule for Monday afternoon, headlined by an English Premier League contest featuring one team still involved in the title chase and another distancing themselves from the relegation field.

Bournemouth welcomes Manchester City as they seek to further remove themselves from worries of relegation. Sitting six points clear of 18th placed Hull City, a difficult win would move them nine points above the red line and move closer to securing themselves Premier League soccer next season. Manchester City, meanwhile, chase leaders Chelsea, sitting a whopping 11 points behind the titel favorites. More importantly for City is pulling ahead of Liverpool and entering the top four with a win or draw.

Meanwhile, in Italy, two big clubs return to Serie A action against one another as sixth place Lazio take on eighth place AC Milan. The latter can catch the former on points with a difficult away victory in the capital, while the former can rise as high as fourth, jumping Atalanta and Inter Milan, with a win this afternoon.

It’s a battle for survival in Spain as Eibar welcome Granada. The visitors sit on just 13 points from 21 matches, firmly in relegation territory, which is inescapable for the time being, even with a win on Monday. Still, Granada will hope to improve their situation and earn just their third win of the year by defeating an Eibar team currently sitting in the top half of the table.
