Soccer Thursday: Your Running Commentary

The pickings may be slim, but the matchups should be entertaining, with Confederations Cup and MLS in action.

The afternoon will see the second semifinal of the Confederations Cup, this one between an inexperienced but impressive Germany and Mexico, who have struggled at times during the tournament. The winner will meet Chile in the final on Sunday, while the loser will take on Portugal in the third-place match, also on Sunday.

In the evening, the next round of MLS action begins, as New York City FC, fresh off a win in the Hudson River Derby, will take on Minnesota United at Yankee Stadium.

Here are more details on today’s matches.

2 p.m. — FS2 — Germany vs. Mexico

7:30 p.m. — MLS Live — New York City FC vs. Minnesota United

  1. Mexico totally bossed this game with over 60% of the possession … bwahahahahaha. From now on no more digs at US/Mexico matches where Mexico runs the table on possession. It’s just their game broh. It doesn’t mean they win. OK??????
