The second matchweek of the Premier League season offers a chance for two of England’s most popular teams to size each other up.

Both Chelsea and Tottenham earned predictable wins over Everton and Southampton respectively in last weekend’s campaign openers, but both sides would probably admit Sunday’s contest is a little less straightforward.

2022’s first North London Derby headlines the weekend’s viewing options as the European scene officially comes back to full swing.

If last week’s 6-1 rout of Eintracht Frankfurt was a fair indicator, Bayern Munich is set to be must-see TV this year. Many wondered how the Bavarian giant would look without Robert Lewandowski, and another convincing win over Wolfsburg on Sunday could give credibility for yet another wire-to-wire campaign.

In MLS action, the Seattle Sounders and Real Salt Lake are on opposite ends of what you probably figured in your Western Conference power rankings. Of course, RSL deserves plenty of praise for holding down what looks to be a deserved playoff spot, but there is no denying Sunday’s clash is winnable, and arguably a must-win for the Sounders who are carrying the flag of the first-ever American Concacaf champions, but the losers in six of their last 10 league games.

This weekend’s slate also includes the returns of La Liga, Serie A, and the continuation of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup, making for a loaded list of exciting viewing.

1. Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspur – Two teams that you could reasonably be title contenders or a cut below. If there’s a decisive winner, it will be real statement.
   
2. Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg – Last week’s romp garnered plenty of attention, how will Bayern follow through?
   
3. Seattle Sounders vs Real Salt Lake – Seattle probably should be in the playoffs, while Real Salt Lake is a candidate to fall out. Sounders fans are hoping to see their side initiate making that happen.
   
4. USWNT U20 vs Netherlands U20 – The American youth opened up their World Cup campaign with a 3-0 win over Ghana on Thursday and overall should be able to keep sailing smooth through the group stage.
   
5. Angel City vs Chicago Red Stars – Yes, there are La Liga and Serie A openers, but NWSL is in crunch time and Angel City’s flashy start to the campaign has dissipated to the point they’re in a must-win scenario in the final six weeks of the season.
