Bryan Reynolds sidelined with shoulder injury

Belgian side Westerlo has enjoyed a promising return to the Belgian First Division, but manager Jonas De Roeck will not be able to call on American defender Bryan Reynolds for the time being.

Reynolds left Westerlo’s 1-0 victory over Cercle Brugge on Saturday with a shoulder injury, the club announced Thursday. The U.S. men’s national team fullback was substituted off at halftime and is expected to miss the next few weeks for Westerlo.

The 21-year-old left back has helped Westerlo to a current seventh-place spot in the league table, locking down the starting right back job. Reynolds has registered one goal and three assists in 17 combined appearances for Westerlo, in his second-straight loan spell in the Pro League.

Reynolds was originally loaned to AS Roma in 2021, but has only made eight appearances for the Serie A club, before being loaned out twice by Jose Mourinho. He spent half of last season with Kortirjk, also in the Belgian Pro League.

A former standout for several U.S. youth national teams, Reynolds has earned two caps for the senior team to date.

Fellow American Griffin Yow is eligible for selection for Westerlo this weekend as the Belgian club hosts OH Leuven on Friday. Yow has yet to make his senior debut for Westerlo after joining the club from D.C. United in July 2022.
