Americans Abroad Weekend Rewind: Pukstas, Robinson, and more

U.S. Under-20 men’s national team midfielder Rokas Pukstas has enjoyed a growing role with Croatian first division side Hajduk Split this season and the 18-year-old delivered his best performance yet in Saturday’s road victory over Varazdin.

Pukstas registered his first senior brace for the Croatian club in a 4-1 victory, moving Hajduk Split eight points back of league-leaders Dinamo Zagreb. He scored two goals in a 13-minute span to pad a first road win for the club in all competitions since Nov. 8. Hajduk Split had to fight from behind to swing momentum back in its favor, using goals from Dario Melnjak and Marko Livaja to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 lead. Pukstas’ overhead kick in the 78th minute extended the visitors lead to 3-1 before he capped off a comeback victory with his third goal of the season in stoppage time.

Pukstas has now made nine league appearances this season and will fight to start next week in a home match vs. HNK Gorica.

In England, Antonee Robinson and Tim Ream helped Fulham defeat Nottingham Forest in EPL play. Chris Richards’ injury forced him to miss Crystal Palace’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

In Germany, Gio Reyna earned his first Bundesliga start since November. Joe Scally started but Borussia Moenchengladbach fell to Hertha Berlin.

In France, Folarin Balogun scored his 15th league goal of the season. Tim Weah started once again at left back for Lille.

Elsewhere, James Sands and Malik Tillman each scored for Rangers in Scottish Cup action. Mark McKenzie and Genk fell at home to Royal Antwerp. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Celtic thumped St. Mirren in Scottish Cup action.
