Medina, Gil, Diaz headline USMNT U-17 roster for Concacaf Championship

Cruz Medina, Adrian Gil, and Christian Diaz will lead the U.S. Under-17 men’s national team into the Concacaf U-17 Championship this February.

Gonzalo Segares released his full 20-player roster for the upcoming competition in Guatemala, U.S. Soccer announced Friday. The tournament will run from Feb. 11-26 in Guatemala as the Americans fight to qualify for a record 18th FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The USMNT U-17’s will kick off its schedule against Barbados on Feb. 11, before facing Trinidad and Tobago on Feb. 13, and Canada Feb. 15. Four teams from the Concacaf U-17 Championship will qualify for the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru.

Segares’ squad features players from 16 clubs, including 12 from MLS, and three from the San Jose Earthquakes. Four players currently play abroad with goalkeeper Diego Kochen and midfielder Adrian Gil at Barcelona, and Keyrol Figueroa playing at Liverpool.

Seven players have been called up to seven of the eight Under-17 training camps since the current cycle kicked off in November 2021.
