Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: McKennie, Richards, and more

Leeds United ended its losing streak on Tuesday with Weston McKennie delivering a strong shift against Leicester City.

McKennie played 90 minutes in the Lilywhites’ 1-1 English Premier League draw with the Foxes at Elland Road, ending a three-match losing run in domestic play. The 24-year-old won five of nine duels, made eight recoveries, and created two offensive opportunities for Javi Gracia’s squad. McKennie has remained a consistent starter alongside Marc Roca during Tyler Adams’ injury absence and Gracia will be hoping that run continues over the final five league matches of the 2022-23 campaign.

Leeds United sits one point clear of the relegation zone heading into Sunday’s crucial six-pointer at Bournemouth.

Elsewhere in England, Chris Richards excelled for Crystal Palace in his first club start since February 4. Brenden Aaronson appeared off the bench for Leeds United.

In Spain, Luca De La Torre logged 90 minutes in Celta Vigo’s 1-0 La Liga victory over Elche on Wednesday.

Comments

      • Yeah that will be good for him. I can see why Inter would try for Haji. He can be had for a relatively low transfer fee of about 10 to 12 million euros. With Lukaku heading back to Chelsea Wright will get chances in a two striker set up.

  1. Hopefully Pulisic will leave the Chelsea dumpster fire in the summer. Would like to see him in either La Liga or Serie A next season
