Trabzonspor is only one season removed from winning the Turkish Super Lig title and after falling well short of repeating as champions, the front office is reportedly already targeting new faces for the squad.

American defender Reggie Cannon is high on Trabzonspor’s radar for a potential transfer this summer, Turkish outlet Fanatik reported. Right back Jens Stryger Larsen has being linked with an exit from the club while Bruno Peres’ contract has already been terminated, according to the report.

Cannon, 24, is in his third season with Portuguese club Boavista, which avoided relegation during the Primeira Liga . The former FC Dallas homegrown defender has featured as both a right back and centerback for Petit’s squad this season, logging 32 combined appearances in all competitions.

In total, Cannon has scored one goal in 88 combined appearances for the Portuguese top-flight side. His current contract is set to expire in June 2025.

Cannon has also earned 28 caps to date with the U.S. men’s national team, being a part of the Concacaf Nations League and Gold Cup-winning squads in 2021.

Trabzonspor sits sixth in the Super Lig standings with one final match this season.

  1. His versatility is a bonus but with all the options we have coming through the ranks in almost feels like he’s on the outside looking in for the USMNT going forward. He’s definitely a capable player but he has some stiff competition. We’ll see how much progress he can make in the next few years.
