  1. I left this site a few years back and just popped back in. It’s so awesome to see this comprehensive list of Americans abroad. I remember a time when there were under 10 guys to report about, and none were in the PL or a top league. It’s great to see how far we’ve come.

Of course this list is missing at least 20 other Americans abroad but by no means do I fault the writer. It’s a good problem to have!

    • Hi there! I am glad to hear you have started re-reading SBI! We are doing our best to stay active and provide the best content around.

We do apologize if some AA players did not make the list. Feel free to let us know who, and we can add them in.

Some players who haven’t debuted for U.S. Soccer, or who might be out of the USMNT picture entirely we have not decided to keep on the AA report.

      • Benji Michele
Hasn’t played at all this season for Arouca in Portugal. He is American!! …and Portugal has a tough league. (Polvara & others have not played for a national youth team like Benji has).

  2. What the heck happened to De La Fuente. What a downwards spiral after a promising few games at Marseille last year. Not even dressing for a second division team. Freddy Adu trajectory really.

  3. Balogun left me shaking my head…the dude is a player. He only played 24 but Oh My was he dominant for those 24 minutes…he had one goal, had another called off for offsides, and didn’t quite make clean contact with a third after he spun his defender and fried him five yards in front of the net.

Those 21 goals he scored last year were clearly no fluke. He could have easily had a hat trick. If Balogun continues like this it wouldn’t shock me overly if Monaco sell Wissam Ben Yedder – who is 33 – on to the Saudi Pro League. The Saudis already tried and whiffed on Ben Yedder this past summer but now that Monaco’s got Balogun you wonder if they’ll be a lot more amenable to selling him. For the kind of dough the Saudis are throwing around they could easily get a new striker plus strengthen their squad other places…I’d definitely be thinking about it.

What was it Bill Walsh once said…that it was far better to sell a guy a year too early than a year too late?

    • How about Pepi scoring in only 7 minutes on the pitch. I had some doubts about him a year ago, but he has done nothing but impress since.

      • Mat,

“It was a PK though I believe.”

Yes but he had to fight off El Tri’s Hirving Lozano for the privilege. I would have loved to have heard that conversation.

Nice to see that Pepi isn’t going to let some El Tri guy get in his way.

  4. Pefok scored last Sept. 18 and scored this year on. Sept. 16. In between 1 g in 34 app. He has shown the ability to score in bunches before, here’s hoping he goes on another hot streak.
