Dutch side PSV earned its second-straight draw in UEFA Champions League play on Tuesday with Malik Tillman playing a vital role in the result.
Tillman started and registered one assist in PSV’s 1-1 road draw with Ligue 1 side Lens. It gave Peter Bosz’s squad two points from three matches with three matches left to play in the group stage.
Fellow U.S. men’s national team teammate Sergino Dest logged 90 minutes at left back while Ricardo Pepi played one minute off the bench. Pepi received a yellow card in stoppage time.
Tillman passed to winger Johan Bakayoko in the 55th minute before watching the Belgian curl a left-footed shot into the bottom-left corner. It marked Bakayoko’s third-straight match at club level with at least one goal scored.

20-year-old Elle Wahi would equalize for Lens though in the 65th minute, giving the hosts a share of the spoils at home.
Tillman won six of 12 duels, drew the most fouls in the match (4) and created one offensive opportunity in his 71 minutes on the field.
PSV will now turn its attention towards Sunday’s rivalry clash with Ajax, aiming to stay perfect in Eredivisie play (9-0-0 through nine matches).
Tillman needs to put a little bit more “effort” into his game. He is growing at RM and getting involved in plays, but he needs to be a little more precise, vicious AND DANGEROUS in the final third to take his game to the next level…..in other words make the long crosses and also open up “LET THEM FLY” when within range kid !!!!!
To be fair his “assist” had little to do with the goal. Of course probably evens it out for the great passes that don’t get finished.
Assis is an assist. They all count. Same with goals they all count no matter how they are scored.
I turned it on right after PSV scored and I don’t think Tillman touched the ball once until he was subbed out. I hope things were better before I turned it on.
