Hernan Losada’s time as CF Montreal head coach is over after just one season in charge.

The Canadian club announced Thursday that it has parted ways with Losada. In addition, assistant coach Sebastián Setti has also been relieved of his duties, the club announced.

“Following the assessment of the season, it was determined this decision is in the club’s best interest for 2024 and beyond,” read a club statement. “The selection process for CF Montréal’s next head coach for the 2024 season is actively underway.”

Losada was named CF Montreal head coach in December 2022 and served in that role until this month. The Argentine registered a 15-6-19 record across all competitions with CF Montreal, however, the Eastern Conference club failed to make the MLS Cup Playoffs.

CF Montreal finished 10th in the Eastern Conference and also lost in the Canadian Championship Final to the Vancouver Whitecaps. Despite Losada’s best efforts, CF Montreal finished with 24 fewer points than they did in 2022 under Wilfried Nancy.

Losada previously served as head coach of DC United from January 2021-April 2022, winning 17 of his 41 matches in charge. He also worked in the Belgian Pro League with Beerschot.

Losada’s exit is the 11th coaching change in MLS this season, and the eighth in the Eastern Conference.
