Weston McKennie has continued to play an important role in Juventus’ resurgence this season and Coppa Italia advancement this week will surely be on his mind to start 2024.
McKennie, Tim Weah, and Juventus host Salernitana in the Coppa Italia Round of 16 on Thursday. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder has continued to shine in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this season, logging 18 appearances to date and playing just under 1,500 minutes in Serie A. After previously being linked with a move away from the Old Lady last summer, McKennie has come back stronger than ever the the Italian club.
Juventus is riding a 13-match unbeaten run coming into Thursday’s match and McKennie has been a big reason for it. Thursday’s head-to-head showdown will mark the first of three meetings between Juventus and Salernitana, but expect the Old Lady to be heavy favorites heading into all of them.
In England, Chris Richards and Crystal Palace host Everton in FA Cup play. Haji Wright and Coventry City visit Middlesbrough in EFL Championship action.
Elsewhere in Italy, Christian Pulisic and AC Milan aim to advance in the Coppa Italia competition.
