Gregg Berhalter has a new assistant coach on his staff heading into 2024.
Vincent Cavin was hired to Berhalter’s staff, U.S. Soccer announced Friday. Cavin spent the last 13 years with the Swiss Football Association, having served as an assistant coach and other roles for the Switzerland men’s national team since 2014.
He will officially begin his USMNT role in the January 2024 camp.
“I’m extremely happy and proud to be starting this new professional adventure,” Cavin said. “After watching the team over the last years, it’s evident that the team has a clear identity and plays with passion. I look forward to contributing to the collective effort to help achieve our vision and would like to thank the U.S. Soccer Federation for this opportunity.”
During Cavin’s tenure with Switzerland, the team participated in three FIFA World Cups, two European Championships and one UEFA Nations. League Final. Cavin also served as the team’s Head of Performance Development since 2021.
He holds a UEFA ‘A’ License and is expected to complete his UEFA Pro license in the beginning of 2024.

The USMNT opens its 2024 schedule with a home January friendly against Slovenia.
Never heard of him but… if I were allowed one good pipe dream, it would be that this guy is someone GB respects and is receptive to listening to… is an outstanding tactical wizard that’s capable of crafting astute game plans and able to make rapid, effective adjustments when needed. Ha!
The Swiss always show up in the WC! Always really well prepared and difficult to play against. Hoping this guy really helps round out the staff and makes the US handful for 90 minutes
