Cameron Carter-Vickers has committed his long-term future to Scottish side Celtic.
Carter-Vickers signed a new deal with the Scottish Premiership leaders until 2029, the club announced Friday. An unnamed Qatari side made a late push to acquire Carter-Vickers, a source close to the player confirmed to SBI, but the 26-year-old committed himself to Celtic instead.
“I am really delighted to sign this new contract with Celtic,” Carter-Vickers said in a club interview. “I have loved everything about the club from day one and I am so pleased to have been part of some real successful times across the last few years. You always play the game to win, and being part of some great winning moments with Celtic has been really big for me, a real honor.
“I have had a great welcome and support from the Celtic fans ever since I came here,” he added. “We all know the love and passion our fans have for the club, there is nothing better than playing at a packed Celtic Park and I am delighted to be playing my football here. I have really enjoyed working with the Manager, the staff and great team-mates and we will all be doing everything we can to bring our fans more and more success over the next few years.”
Carter-Vickers has been immaculate for Celtic since originally joining the club on loan from Tottenham in 2021. He has totaled 101 combined appearances for the reigning SPFL champions, lifting two league titles, and three domestic cups over two seasons.
The U.S. men’s national team centerback has earned SPFL Best XI honors in 2022 and 2023. His productive seasons at Celtic have helped Carter-Vickers fight his way back into the USMNT picture over the last two years as well.
“This is great news for us all that Cameron has extended his contract with the club,” Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers said.
“He has been an absolute rock for us since he joined the club and has played to such a high standard so regularly, week in, week out,” Rodgers added. “He has been such a pillar of strength in our defense and a real leader in the team, I know he is held in such high regard, too, by his teammates.”
Celtic had been without Carter-Vickers for the past three matches due to hamstring injury, but the American is set to return to action this weekend against Ross County.

Ronniet and Papi,
It’s entirely possible that CCV is quite happy at Celtic. He owes his impatient and demanding USMNT fans nothing. People wanted LD to move to Europe to validate their own desires not necessarily LD’s. Landon made the right call to stay home. It was the right call because it was his call, no one else’s.
Besides contracts like this don’t preclude , for example, Spurs. from coming in next season and buying him if that’s what they want.
CCV in particular has moved around a lot the last few years. Maybe he wants to settle down for a bit. As a center half he has a slightly longer shelf life.
Regardless it’s not our business how he wants to live his life and run his career.
I really dont understand this extension from CCV, especially the length of the new deal although I’ll assume he’ll be paid handsomely. To only be tested 2 to 3 times a year in the SPL(all against Rangers)leaves a lot to be desired, but maybe it all boils down to Interests from clubs in better leagues never really materialized
What’s to understand?
CCV has done a great job for them. They are rewarding him for it. It might make him more inclined to stay. You have a problem with that?
And if someone else comes for CCV, because he has more value, Celtic will be able to get more for him.
Celtic are not some shithole two blocks down from hell. CCV could do a lot worse.
I specifically said what I didn’t understand, the length of the deal, which is for another 5 years. Granted like you said another team could come in for him before then, but I was under the impression CCV wanted to test himself week in and out and you and I both know that he’s not in the SPL. And no one said anything about Celtic being a “shithole”, so trying to sensationalize your argument with that word doesn’t make your case stronger
Ronniet,
You are correct, this does leave a lot to be desired. Vacqui is full of shit, and has a penchant for clown talk.
Vacqui,
As Ronniet clearly communicated and pointed out, after proving himself at Celtics, he would’ve liked to see CCV challenge himself with a transfer. While Celtics, is not a shit hole, CCV could’ve done better. Now shut your pie hole.
