Americans Abroad Midweek Preview: McKennie, Robinson, and more

Juventus’ quest to lift the Serie A title this season might be over, but Coppa Italia is very much at play for the Old Lady this spring.

Weston McKennie and Juventus host Lazio on Tuesday in the semifinals of this season’s competition. McKennie logged 45 minutes on Saturday as Lazio defeated the Old Lady 1-0 in league play. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder came off the bench after lifting the CONCACAF Nations League title this month and will now aim to start in a crucial semifinal tie.

McKennie has enjoyed a stellar campaign in Italy this year and will want to conclude the season with a trophy lift at club level.

Elsewere, Antonee Robinson and Fulham visit Gio Reyna and Nottingham Forest. Alex Zendejas and Brandon Vazquez continue their CONCACAF Champions Cup schedules.

  1. Seriously though…the only game that matters this mid-week is Tier 4 USL2 Vermont Green FC (fresh from eliminating a USL1 side) taking on an unaffiliated MLS2 (another tier3) side from Carolina in US Open Cup in what looks like will likely be a snowstorm in front of 3000 fans. Up the Green!
