Christian Pulisic, Josh Sargent both score, and more

Christian Pulisic ended up being AC Milan’s lone bright spot Saturday in a road loss to Parma.

Pulisic scored his first Serie A goal of the new season in the Rossoneri’s 2-1 loss to
Parma. He played 86 minutes on the right side of Paulo Fonseca’s attack.

Dennis Man propelled Parma in front after six minutes but AC Milan battled back through Pulisic’s tap-in finish.

Rafael Leao worked his way upfield before finding the U.S. men’s national team star for a 1-1 equalizer after the hour mark.

However, Parma would steal all three points through Matteo Cancellieri’s eventual winning goal.

Pulisic created a match-high four offensive chances in his performance.

AC Milan next travels to Lazio on August 31 in its third Serie A match of the campaign.

Josh Sargent scores for second-straight match

Norwich City walked away with one point in Saturday’s home showdown with Sheffield United.

Josh Sargent scored for the second-straight week as the Canaries tied the visiting Blades 1-1 at Carrow Road. Sargent now has two goals and one assist in three EFL Championship appearances this summer.

Sargent boosted Norwich City ahead after 22 minutes after finishing off Amankwah Forson’s pass into the bottom-right corner.

However, Ollie Arblaster’s right-footed missile would tie the match for Sheffield United 10 minutes later.

Sargent won two duels and registered two shots on target in his 90-minute shift.

Antonee Robinson sets up winning goal for Fulham

Fulham rebounded for its first Premier League victory of the season and Antonee Robinson played a big part in it.

Robinson assisted on the Cottagers winning goal on Saturday in a 2-1 home result over Leicester City. The USMNT left back also logged 90 minutes in a strong two-way performance.

With both teams tied 1-1, Robinson played Alex Iwobi in towards goal for the eventual go-ahead play. Robinson’s pass allowed Iwobi to race upfield before he snuck a shot past Mads Hermansen for the winning goal.

Robinson made four tackles and won four duels as Fulham rebounded from an opening weekend loss to Manchester United.

Fulham next visits Birmingham City on Tuesday in the second round of the EFL Cup.

  1. “Malik Tillman, Ricardo Pepi, Hirving Lozano all score as PSV hand Almere City record 7-1 Eredivisie loss”

What is going on out there in Europe??? 🤣

  2. The only two starting CF’s in Europe are: Sargent and Pefok. Won’t be surprised if Pefok gets a recall.

Breel Embolo and is Baloguns competition at Monaco. 18 year old Nigerian up and coming striker Ilenikhena looks to be preferred as a sub right now. Balogun has his work cut out for him.

  3. Like most I worry about Reyna’s and Balogen’s playing time.

Erre Can whom Reyna replaced has been a stalwart for BVB.

I am not sure who is Balogen’s main competition for playing time.

Overall, 5 USMNT players scored and one assisted so far this weekend in Europe.

  4. Both Tillman and Pepi scored today. On a positive note ot looks like Pepi will get more minutes this season.

    Reyna got minutes.

Balogun an unused sub. Not looking good for him to the start of the season.

    • Pepi seems to make more a year than the entire roster of Almere City and it showed. Ledezma continues to start at RB. His sub Michael Bresser is a 17 yr old Dutch Youth International who was born in the US and should be eligible for the US.

    • Curious what makes you think Pepi will get more minutes this season. I’d think this would have been the perfect game to give him a start due to the opposition. Instead he was given his run once the score was 4-1 to rest deJong. He didn’t play at all last week in a game that was a one goal game until PSV scored in the 90th to put it away. He got good minutes in week 1 – when the score was 3-0 (ended 5-1) and got to come in just in time do PKs in the Shield game. Looks to me like more of the same as last season. And his face in week two at about the 88th minute makes me think he thinks so too. Of course (extrapolating out from the first few weeks of the season) if they continue to go up 3 before the 75th minute he will probably get a few more minutes than last year.

      • MoO,

        It’s early in the season.

If Pepi had been starting or playing a lot more and DeJong’s time was dropping, I would guess that Pepi had shown better in the preseason and in training.

The fact that status quo from last season seems to be in order tells us that maybe Pepi didn’t impress that much in preseason and in training.

Or that they have it in for Pepi for some reason. That’s not a very imaginative conspiracy theory but it’s the best I have.

      • I’ll be happy if he gets a consistent 15 to 20 minutes in most games this season with an occasional start. PSV has a plan for Pepi. He just needs to continue to show when given time that he takes his chances. De Jong isn’t getting any younger. You can tell he can’t do 90 minutes every game.
