Monterrey’s positive road form this summer continued on Saturday with Brandon Vazquez finding the back of the net for the third-straight match.
Vazquez scored the opening goal for Monterrey in an eventual 2-0 road triumph over Santos Laguna. The former FC Cincinnati standout earned Man of the Match honors after breaking the deadlock in the fourth minute. Vazquez’s top-shelf finish made it 1-0 to the visitors while Monterrey iced the match in the final minutes of second-half stoppage time.
The 25-year-old also hit the crossbar once in the match and won six of his 10 duels overall. Vazquez’s positive strong of performances have Monterrey slowly creeping up the Liga MX table heading into a two-match homestand against FC Juarez and Mazatlan.

I mentioned him on a different thread before I saw your comment. I could see it. His numbers are down this year but since I don’t know of anyone streaming the Croatian league.
Try to find a highlight of Luca’s goal if you can: he made a run with the ball down the right side for 50 yards and then slotted home to the far post. Spectacular goal.
It seems like “speed” on the wing, and a well-placed shot….

SBI,
I don’t know if he’s off your radar but Joe Corona (at 34 years old) starts for Tijuana de Caliente and they are currently sitting 6th in Liga MX. You seem to leave him out……
He’s long out of the player pool, I imagine Larry would add him if got called back.
yes I would!
USA U-20 women advanced to the semifinals of the U-20 World Cup with a cone from behind victory over Germany.
lol looks like I’m late to the party with the news after reading other comments
When Germany went ahead 2-0 in extra time, I turned the game off. Wow, I’m going to have to find a replay of their tying goals. It didn’t seem possible.
Props, flowers, shoutout whatever your generation likes to hand out to the USW U20s. I was doubtful of them after losing to Spain and struggling to finish against Morocco. Since then they smashed Paraguay, battled it out and got revenge against Mexico (Concacaf U20 Champions) and now 2 goals in 2 mins in added time to force pens against Germany. US goes 3 for 3, Germany 1 for 4 on to semis against North Korea. Their first semifinal since 2016 when Mal Swanson and Emily Fox led the squad. Ironically that year we lost to North Korea and Japan to finish 4th (Japan is a potential opponent in the final or consolation this year as well).
Man I feel so dumb for not having patience, I got mad USA took that second goal off the counter attack from Germany. I thought were gonna lose, being two down, and I turned game off too. Come to fund out we scored two goals in stoppage by Dudley and Sentour and won on penalties. Reminds me of AC Milan and Liverpool when AC had Maldini and Liverpool had Dudek and Liverpool scored three goals and came back and won the UCL final on penalties.
Matko Milijevic: there’s a name for the sickos out here. Played for U20s during the 2020 cycle that got canceled. Which was a coup because he also played for Argentina U20s. Got shipped from Argentino Jrs to Montreal after some issues with his father and agent and the club. Was ok but not great up north. Now earned starting spot for Pochettino’s boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys. Somehow still only 23, he’s started 5 matches in a row as a #10. Of course the team hasn’t scored in any of those. With 30 minutes left in tonight’s match they’ve gone almost 600 minutes without a goal. Not sure Poch will be too impressed with that.
For those of you who were saying Tessmann should stay at Venezia and fight it out. Yikes, Venezia is bad. Busio might be their best player, but they are going to be chasing the game most of the season. I get Tanner would have made them better, but I watched Como right before, and Como actually looks like they could grind out staying up. Venezia doesn’t look like they can hang with even the bottom in SerieA. Should have been worse but ACM took the gas off 30 mins in.
