Liga MX play pushed forward this week with Cade Cowell and Alex Zendejas both enjoying goalscoring performances.
Cowell started and scored once in Chivas’ 2-0 road win over Santos Laguna while Zendejas also found the back of the net in Club America’s 2-1 home triumph over Pachuca. Both Cowell and Zendejas have continued to play impactful roles with their clubs this fall as the Apertura season comes to its conclusion.
Both one time dual-national players, Cowell and Zendejas have had senior USMNT opportunities and will hope that their names are called for November involvement in the CONCACAF Nations League quarterfinals. Cowell and Chivas host Atletico San Luis on Saturday while Zendejas and Club America visit Toluca on the same night.
In Europe, Christian Pulisic assisted once in AC Milan’s road win over Real Madrid. Malik Tillman enjoyed a big night with PSV. Cole Campbell featured in Borussia Dortmund’s victory over Sturm Graz.
In England, Brenden Aaronson and Haji Wright both suffered EFL Championship defeats with their respective clubs.

Why did Berhalther not rate or hardly called up league Mex players? I feel he does not rate Lig Mex as competitive plus the rivalry.
Like who? I think the thought is if they chose to go play in Mexico they probably want to play for El Tri. Rumor was he was the next manager at Club America and that forced US Soccer to offer his return. Of course most rumors are just positioning by agents so take it for what it is.
I could see both Zendejas and Cowell called up. Cowell on 5 goals and has been a key player for Chivas and Zendejas has been key for America.
I feel like almost all of Zendajas’s goals for Club America come in transition. When the defenses are more set for the NT he struggles because he’s so left footed.

I’ve only seen highlights of Cowell with Chivas this year is his technical skill getting better or has he just moved to less athletic league where he can bully and outpace weaker defenders? (I think Cade probably gets a call this time now that he’s healthy again.)
Gago and now Interim coach Ortega has movd him around in attack to see where he fits best. He has played left, right, striker and as a support striker. His dibbling and pace and physicality set him apart in any league, he has developed a bit more patience in attack and his runs are more concise. I have seen him dribble 3 guys in tight quarters in Mexico, his passing still needs to get better, but once in awhile he pulls off a killer pass and you are like why can’t you do that more often. Just turning 21 he is still developing and I do think Mexico is right spot for him right now. It will be interesting to see which position he finally solidifies.
2tone,
How is his shooting? The few times I saw him pre-Chivas his shooting was erratic.
Some here liken his potential to a young Bale.
If his skill set has developed at Chivas and he can shoot,
then a marauding inverted winger like Bale or for that matter Robben, would be a good role for him.
Those guys would take on multiple people and then lose them.
CP can do that. It would help to have another weapon.
