Antonee Robinson is quickly becoming one of the better left backs in the English Premier League.
Robinson excelled for Fulham on Saturday, registering two assists in the Cottagers’ 2-2 road EPL draw with Liverpool. The U.S. men’s national team defender earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors
Robinson had a had in both of Fulham’s goals at Anfield, making himself a nuisance against the Liverpool backline. His first assist came in the first half, delivering a long cross for Andreas Pereira to volley into the top-right corner.
Despite Liverpool tying the game at 10 men, Robinson again helped Fulham take a lead. His low cross in the second half was flicked home by Rodrigo Muniz, giving the Cottagers a 2-1 advantage.
Liverpool would tie the match late, earning a share of the spoils on Merseyside.
Robinson was previously linked with a potential move to Liverpool, and after a dominant performance on Saturday, Marco Silva could see growing interest from the Reds again for his left back’s services.
Here is a look at some of the other top Americans Abroad performers from this past week:
Gio Reyna
Gio Reyna’s long wait came to an end on Sunday.
Reyna delivered his first goal for Borussia Dortmund since May 2023. The USMNT attacker roofed a right-footed shot into the top-right corner, giving the Black and Yellow one point on home soil.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Cameron Carter-Vickers was everywhere for Celtic in Sunday’s Scottish League Cup Final.
Carter-Vickers logged 120 minutes as the SPFL leaders defeated rivals Rangers 5-4 on penalty kicks. The two teams totaled six goals in regulation and extra time, with Brendan Rodgers’ squad continuing a dominant run in all competitions.
Carter-Vickers was the only member of the Celtic backline to go the distance.
Alex Zendejas
Alex Zendejas has played a vital role in Club America’s run to the Liga MX Final.
Zendejas scored once and assisted once in a 2-1 first leg win over Monterrey last Thursday. The USMNT winger continues to be an important player for Club America, but surely will receive growing interest elsewhere this winter.
Johnny Cardoso
Johnny Cardoso’s first 90-minute performance since November 3 was a strong one for Real Betis.
Cardoso won three duels, completed 90% of his passes, and made 5 interceptions as Real Betis defeated 2-1 over Villarreal. It was the 23-year-old’s second-straight start in all competitions.
What did you think of these individual performances this past week? Was there anyone left off the list that you would’ve added?
