Americans Abroad Midweek Rewind: Adams, Aaronson, and more

AFC Bournemouth have continued to improve throughout the English Premier League season and Tuesday’s 2-2 road draw with Chelsea was the Cherries latest impressive result.

U.S. men’s national team midfielder Tyler Adams logged his latest 90 minutes as the Cherries earned one point from their trip to Stamford Bridge. Adams was solid in the match, winning three duels, making three clearances, and five defensive recoveries.

The 25-year-old has started in five of his last seven appearances across all competitions, helping Bournemouth advance in the FA Cup and move even closer to the top six of the Premier League standings. A healthy Adams has certainly benefitted Bournemouth’s chase for Europe and the midfielder’s quest to get back to his best long-term for club and country.

Eighth-place Bournemouth will next visit fourth-place Newcastle United on Saturday with Adams seeking another start in Andoni Iraola’s lineup.

In the Netherlands, Paxten Aaronson and Ricardo Pepi were among the standouts in KNVB Cup action.

Elsewhere in England, Chris Richards helped Crystal Palace earn a shutout win at Leicester City. Antonee Robinson added two assists, but Fulham lost at rivals West Ham United.

In Italy, Weston McKennie assisted once in Juventus’ road draw with Atalanta.

In Germany, Gio Reyna scored his second goal of the season.

    • The local paper, which is closely following the women’s team, the Wave, had nothing yet about this. The San Diego men’s team added another midfielder that wasn’t reported on either. Local media keeps reducing their news staff.
