Christian Pulisic, Yunus Musah spark AC Milan’s comeback victory over Juventus

AC Milan sealed its spot into the Supercoppa Italiana Final on Friday with Christian Pulisic enjoying a positive return to action.

Pulisic scored from the penalty spot to help kickstart the Rossoneri’s eventual 2-1 comeback victory over Juventus in Saudi Arabia. It marked Pulisic’s return to action for AC Milan after being out through injury.

Fellow U.S. men’s national team star Yunus Musah also had an impactful moment in the match as well.

Kenan Yildiz propelled the Bianconeri in front after 21 minutes, giving Juventus a 1-0 lead that it would take into halftime.

However, Pulisic stepped up from the penalty spot in the 71st minute and blasted his spot kick down the middle of the Juventus net for a 1-1 equalizer. It marked Pulisic’s ninth goal of the season in all competitions.

Four minutes after tying the match, AC Milan propelled itself in front with substitute Musah having a say in the go-ahead goal. Musah’s cross from the right wing deflected off of Juventus’ Federico Gatti into the back of the net for a 2-1 Rossoneri lead.

AC Milan would hang on to seal its spot into Monday’s Final.

Weston McKennie started and played 86 minutes at left back for Juventus while Timothy Weah played out the final four minutes off of the bench.

For Pulisic and Musah, their first chance to lift a trophy with the Rossoneri comes on Monday when the Milan Derby takes place at Al -Awwal Park in Riyadh.

  1. Crazy and nerve-wracking that CP went so deep into the match before being subbed off. Brother was pressing, working hard in his first match in a month. I suppose it shows just how thin Milan is, how much they rely on him as well as how desperately they wanted/needed a chance at salvaging consolation with some kind of hardware this year. The first 45 was a snooze-fest, but Conceicao definitely lit a fire during the break. Although definitely still not sharp, at least he had them fighting in the 2nd half.

    • I saw most of the first half, they were taking every corner short. I was like seriously you couldn’t just use an old corner action. They weren’t getting much going in the first half and then were just giving up on their corners.

      • Both their regular LBs were hurt. It was necessity not want. Cambiaso is almost back but can’t go 90 minutes. Wes had moved up field the final 25 minutes and Timmy subbed in for him as an attacker not as a LB even though looks kind of that way on the stat sheet.

Cabal (LB) is out for the season. So it’s Cambiaso and Rouhi (20 yr old Swedish YNT) that apparently they don’t trust very much yet. Cambiaso hurt his ankle a couple weeks ago and missed three matches. He’s come off the bench for less than 30 minutes the last 3 matches.

  2. Good to see both Milan boys back from injury. Also nice that both contributed to the goals. Always good to remind the new manager what you’re capable of. Looks like Cambioso is almost back to full fitness so Wes can move back to the attacking end. Although it was Cambioso who Musah got behind to make the CB come over.
