Antonee Robinson’s USMNT absence due to tendinopathy

Antonee Robinson’s absence from March’s CONCACAF Nations League window has now been revealed.

Robinson announced via his Instagram that he has continued to deal with tendinopathy for parts of the current season. The U.S. men’s national team star left back was originally announced to Mauricio Pochettino’s roster but was forced to withdraw ahead of tonight’s semifinal vs. Panama.

Tendinopathy is pain and swelling that could occur near one of multiple tendons in the body such as the Achillies, knee, hip, wrist, elbow or shoulder. It commonly occurs due to overuse of the affected area.

Robinson has been a constant again for Fulham this season, making 30 appearances in all competitions. He has yet to miss a Premier League match and has only been rested on four occasions between the FA Cup and EFL Cup.

The 27-year-old has registered 10 assists in 2,658 minutes of playing time, helping Fulham fight for a European qualification spot.

However, his large club role has led to his departure for USMNT camp, opening the door for Joe Scally to potentially start at left back tonight.

Fulham will hope to have Robinson back fit for next weekend’s FA Cup quarterfinal tie vs. Crystal Palace.

  1. Yep he’s been an ironman for Fulham, sounds like rest is the best option. Is there any news about where exactly this pain is coming from? My experience is tendinopathy is a term often used when the real problem has not yet been diagnosed. But then I’m sure he’s had all the scans and hopefully had the major problems ruled out…

      jb,

      Define “major problem”

Never mind the USMNT, Fulham are heading into the critical part of their season. With a little luck they can qualify for Europe. Plus Liverpool is allegedly kicking the tires on Jedi. So there is enormous pressure on Jedi to play.

As you say, it sounds like rest is the best but when exactly is he going to get that?

      This is not good.
