Auston Trusty was substituted off in the first half of Celtic’s trip to St. Mirren on Saturday but isn’t expected to miss ample time.
Trusty was replaced in the 27th minute of Celtic’s 5-2 road victory due to a head injury. The American defender watched the second half from the sidelines as Brendan Rodgers’ squad moved 16 points clear at the top of the league table.
“Auston [Trusty] got a bang in the head and had to get five stitches,” Rodgers said postmatch. “He should recover but Liam Scales came in and did really well.”
Trusty has remained a regular starter for Celtic this season, logging 35 appearances, two goals and one assist. Following his move from Sheffield United last August, Trusty has teamed up nicely with USMNT teammate Cameron Carter-Vickers across multiple competitions.
Although he could miss Celtic’s Scottish Cup quarterfinal clash with Hibernian next weekend, Trusty should be back for the remainder of the season.
Celtic has four remaining league matches before the Championship Group is decided.
