A pair of the U.S. men’s national team’s leading defenders became league champions on Saturday.
Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty lifted the Scottish Premiership title on Saturday as Celtic defeated Dundee United 5-0 at Tannadice Park. Carter-Vickers played the full 90 minutes in Brendan Rodgers’ backline while Trusty was an unused substitute.
Carter-Vickers has now won nine trophies with the Scottish giants while Trusty lifted his first at club level.
A Ryan Strain own goal put Dundee United under early pressure before Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah scored respective braces. Idah came off the bench in the 35th minute following a first-half injury to Jota.
Carter-Vickers completed the most passes in the match (109), delivering another solid defensive performance. The 27-year-old has now made 41 appearances for Celtic across all competitions.
Trusty, who joined Celtic from Sheffield United last summer, has made 35 appearances for the club this season.
Celtic can still complete a domestic treble by defeating Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final on May 24.
Trusty has been unused sub in three matches in a row and 4 of the last 5.
Yeah after he had the concussion via an head injury he hasn’t played as much. I think that’ll keep him out of the summer friendlies, and ultimately the GC unfortunately
He went 90 the week following his head injury. Then had a calf injury. Maybe it’s just precautionary but he’s still dressing just not playing. Perhaps the leg injury isn’t 100% so he’s dressing in case Scales or CCV go down he could go, but I don’t think the head injury is an issue or he wouldn’t have gone 90 twice since the injury.
