Chelsea completed the perfect ending to a domestic treble on Sunday.
Catarina Macario scored once while Naomi Girma played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea defeated Manchester United 3-0 in the Women’s FA Cup Final. Mia Fishel was not part of the squad despite returning to action in recent weeks.
The result capped off a dominant domestic campaign for the Blues, who also won the WSL title and lifted the Women’s League Cup.
Sandy Baltimore delivered the breakthrough goal for Chelsea in first-half stoppage time, beating USWNT goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce for a 1-0 lead.
Macario, who entered the match as a second-half substitute, extended Chelsea’s lead to 2-0 with six minutes to play. It marked Macario’s 10th goal of the season in all competitions.
Baltimore added her second and Chelsea’s final goal of the match, capping the final score at 3-0.
Macario earned her fourth winners medal with Chelsea while Girma won her second trophy since joining the club in January.
All three players will now aim to be part of Emma Hayes’ summer roster later this month.
Great to see Americans flourishing wherever they’re found. Just saw Heaps (Horan) beat Albert and Dunn for the Ligue 1 Femenine title as well.
