Report: Juventus, Weston McKennie remain in talks over new contract

Weston McKennie’s productive campaign with Serie A side Juventus has led to continued discussions between the two parties over a longer stay in Turin.

McKennie and Juventus remain in negotiations over a new contract, however nothing has been agreed upon just yet, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported. The American midfielder previously signed a contract extension last August until June 2026 and Juventus is set to further extend that deal, according to the report.

McKennie played a large role in the Juventus squad this season, logging five goals and four assists in 44 combined appearances. The 26-year-old logged 3,138 minutes across all competitions, helping the Bianconeri qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League tournament.

Despite previously being linked with several European clubs over the past season, McKennie looks set to remain in Igor Tudor’s squad for the 2025-26 campaign. His versatility saw McKennie used in a number of different roles under both Thiago Motta and Tudor.

Although he won’t be with the U.S. men’s national team this summer, McKennie will stay busy at the FIFA Club World Cup. Juventus is set to face Al Ain, Wydad Casablanca, and Manchester City in group stage play this June.

  1. people forget which teams rank which spots in the table. ACM that americans adore just finished 8th, regardless of CP’s stat line, and canned their coach. juve is 4 spots above that and probably has bigger ambitions.

however, personally i’d get offended by at least the 3rd or 4th time they jack him around like this. if they want him, act excited to extend. if not, sell him. quit pulling this hardball crap then having him back in the lineup by september or october.

  2. I remember when about 10 months ago Juventus was acting like they were ready to cut him loose. They made it sound like he wasn’t very important for their future. Kudos to Wes for changing the narrative and, hopefully, earning a raise.

    • The question with Weston is what happens after the raise? He might be the king of complacency. As soon as he feels comfort he starts eating and partying….

        Hopefully Juve will cut him.

A World Cup year is a bad time to start partying, eating and drinking, etc.
