Christian Pulisic has yet to put pen to paper on a new AC Milan contract, but sporting director Igli Tare remains very excited about the American’s future at the club.
Pulisic is coming off of his best season for the Rossoneri, scoring 17 goals and adding 12 assists in 50 appearances. Despite Pulisic’s best efforts, AC Milan missed out on a top-six finish, ruling them out of European competitions for the 2025-26 season.
After delivering two impressive seasons in the Red and Black of AC Milan, Pulisic looked set to sign a contract extension until 2029, which would make him one of the longest-tenured players in the squad. However, Pulisic and his representatives reportedly asked for time before signing, which has led to speculation regarding the 26-year-old’s long-term future in Italy.
Although Pulisic didn’t sign his extension, Tare expects big things from Pulisic in Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this fall.
“Pulisic will be a key player for the next Milan season,” Tare said in an interview with Italian media, transcribed by local outlet Sempre Milan. I’ll have the chance to discuss the renewal topic with [AC Milan chief executive officer] Giorgio [Furlani] at the right time. Christian has a central role in this group”
Pulisic is currently on summer break after not being part of the U.S. men’s national team’s CONCACAF Gold Cup roster. The USMNT star received ample criticism for wanting to only play in the program’s pair of June friendlies (losses to Switzerland and Turkey) before departing ahead of the Gold Cup group stage.
AC Milan opens its new Serie A campaign against Cremonese on August 23. Prior to that, Pulisic will revisit his old stomping grounds as the Rossoneri faces EPL side Chelsea on Aug. 10 in a friendly at Stamford Bridge.
Transfer market not being kind to our guys this summer, except for Johnny. And Milan doesn’t seem to be replacing all the guys that are leaving…no wonder CP is hesitating.
Looks like Modric signed. And getting the cancer that is Theo Hernandez out to Saudi will improve ability to sign players and increase team chemistry. Modric is short term but should provide more stability in the midfield while they sort out something more long term. There’s also talk of Xhaka and a couple other lesser known younger mids who sound interesting. They are heavily linked with Vlahovic as a striker despite his recent habit of not being able to hit the net, which would still be an upgrade from the failed Morata transfer and Giminez being disappointing after a hot start. Zinchenko and De Cuypers seem to be in the running for a Theo replacement.
In fact Milan seem linked to just about everyone mentioned up for sale so I’m guessing since they are flush with cash from the Kalulu, Reijnders and Theo sales they will make some hay in the market. And there’s the possible move to Chelsea of Mike Maignan to raise more (who replaces him?).
It’s a total make over and I believe will only help CP. He came into a team that had just won the Scudetto. Somehow the team chemistry seemed to just fall off a cliff. With all the new faces bound to come in there’s a chance to reset.
Samuele Ricci from Torino, only 23 but was their captain, DM. Plays for Italy as well not done but been in the works since the winter.
if Modric signed, how about Ronaldinho?
Bruce S,
45 minutes for each one.
I’ve been thinking and I don’t know about the transfer market being particularly bad. All in all it seems like an exciting off season for US Players in the market:
Tillman – Leverkusen
Weah – Forest
Cardoso – Athletic Madrid
Busio – Udinese
Musah – Napoli or West Ham
Sargent – Leeds or Udinese
Agyemang – Derby County
If some of these actually happen this summer it will be a good transfer market. It sounds like the first four are pretty much done. Musah will for sure be going somewhere too. Although I’m surprised Allegri wouldn’t want to try him at RB considering that perfomrance against Vini in CL. Allegri was the guy who gave away McKennie’s locker and number and parking space.
Farke (Leeds coach) had Sargent when he coached Norwich and is interested in him but apparently Udinese is hot and heavy after him too.
I think all the above moves would be a step up and good for the players considering where their careers currently are.
