USMNT going to “manage” Antonee Robinson in October window

For the first time in 2025, Antonee Robinson will be fighting to feature for the U.S. men’s national team.

Robinson was named to Mauricio Pochettino’s 26-player roster for October’s pair of home friendlies against Ecuador and Australia respectively. The Fulham left back, who has rapidly become one of the best at his position in the English Premier League, has recently only got back to action in West London.

Robinson underwent knee surgery at the end of last season, which led him to miss a period of the new campaign. The 28-year-old played the full 90 minutes in Marco Silva’s squad back on September 23 against Cambridge United before making a short cameo off of the bench in the Cottagers’ 3-1 league defeat to Aston Villa last weekend.

After not playing for the USMNT since November 2024, Robinson looks ready to get back to his starting left back job this fall. Pochettino was pleased to welcome the versatile full back back to the squad, but also urged that the coaching staff will be patient with him in these upcoming matches.

“We know that [Robinson] is an important player for us and I think it’s a moment to bring him in,” Pochettino said Thursday during a press conference with reporters. “And of course we were talking with his club, we are going to try to manage in the best way here, but it’s important that he can be with us, with a group, with a teammate.”

Robinson has earned 50 caps to date for the USMNT since debuting for the program back in 2018. Columbus Crew defender Max Arftsen joins Robinson as the other left back in Pochettino’s squad and expect both to see time in the penultimate international window of the calendar year.

The USMNT will take on Ecuador on October 10 in Austin, Texas before closing their two-match window against the Australians on October 14 in Commerce City, Colorado.
