Napoli’s reported interest in Yunus Musah may have faded, but the American midfielder has now moved on the radar of one of England’s historic clubs.
Nottingham Forest is interested in potentially acquiring Musah this summer, La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported Thursday. Forest was previously linked with U.S. men’s national team winger Tim Weah, but now looks to have shifted its attention towards Musah following the winger’s rejection of moving to the EPL side.
Musah registered three assists in 40 appearances in his second season in Italy. The former Arsenal academy player logged 2,237 minutes for AC Milan, teaming up with USMNT teammate Christian Pulisic.
Despite his versatility, Musah isn’t expected to be part of Massimiliano Allegri’s squad this season.
“I consider Musah to be an excellent player but we are looking for profiles with characteristics that are useful for the project we have together with Mr Allegri,” AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare said in an interview with Tuttomercato.
“Musah does not have these characteristics,” Tare added. “This is the real reason why we want to do something different. We are also evaluating signing another player in midfield together with a striker. In the event of a transfer, we will also intervene on the wings and in central defence. We must be focused on doing the best possible for the team and to be protagonists [in the Serie A title race].”
Nottingham Forest finished seventh in the Premier League standings last season, qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League playoff round.
Musah desperately needs to clear the block- clean up his decision making in the final, at which point his options will increase exponentially.

Where did you get that Weah rejected a move to the EPL? Both he and Mbangula weren’t even on the bench for Juve today, which very likely means they’re buying tickets for Sunny England. Gazzetta definitely thinks so.
Split reports today some that they were held out because the move was imminent and others including some from Italian outlets that they were held out because they both had said no.
Tim’s agent bashing Juve according to Fabrizio Romano saying “ To see people acting like this for money and because they are selfish disappointed me a lot. This is a shame”. So yes it appears the were not dressed for the match as a punishment for rejecting Forest deal.
Juve has a long history of punishing players that don’t comply.
Wes knows.
first, what i had heard was they had a transfer deal but not personal terms. personal terms is weah’s decision.
second, the article that i saw described it as “the United States international rejected the club’s contract proposal.” he either didn’t like the offer, or had no say in his transfer destination and used his salary ask to tank the deal.
at which point forest gave up and went down their list.
to me that it was then musah raises the concern this is at least somewhat about marketing their emerging club to americans, selling shirts, etc. it feels a little like they just want an american around — even if they don’t play much.
Possibly, it also might just be that’s the kind of transfer they can afford. Picking off players from these big roster name clubs for value. If you check the rumor boards they’re looking at a lot of players, but we just get the American players. They’re also trying to get 2 or 3 players from Botafogo, they’re after Luiz and Vlahovic from Juve, plus a couple others in Serie A. Jordan Henderson is another target. I think they’re trying to find value vets especially guys with European competition experience.
So now Musah instead of Weah? Hmmmmm
