USWNT completes sweep of Republic of Ireland

The U.S. women’s national team’s winning run continued in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday afternoon.

Lynn Biyendolo, Izzy Rodriguez, Yazmeen Ryan and Alyssa Thompson all found the back of the net as Emma Hayes’ squad completed a two-match sweep of the Republic of Ireland with a 4-0 victory. The result extended the USWNT’s winning streak to four matches heading into a CONCACAF showdown with Canada on July 2 in Washington, D.C.

Biyendolo became the fifth different scorer this window after needing just 11 minutes to propel the USWNT in front. Emma Sears played distributor on the play, teeing up Biyendolo for right-footed strike and a 1-0 lead.

Sears came close to adding her name to the scoresheet, but her original effort in the 42nd minute was saved. However, Rodriguez was on the spot to hammer home the rebound, giving the forward her first goal on her international debut.

Ryan extended the USWNT’s lead to 3-0 in the 66th minute, finishing off Olivia Moultrie’s pass into the bottom corner. It marked the 26-year-old’s first international goal.

Thompson netted her second goal of the window to cap the final score at 4-0.

Mandy McGlynn didn’t need to make a single save to register her second international clean sheet. Cincinnati native Rose Lavelle featured off the bench in her return to her hometown.

The USWNT will aim to earn their eighth win of 2025 on Wednesday night in the Nation’s capital.

  1. Credit to the staff and squad to completely rotate all 11 starters and win by the exact same score is impressive. Feels like Emma has created so much depth, when Vlatko kept the pool small and when players got injured or lost form there was no one to step in. I’d really be ok with Emma taking over for Poch after 2027.
